Khanjeli Dighi (Pond)

In front of the Mausoleum of Khan Jahan Ali, lies the Khan Jahan Ali Dighi which is better known as Khanjeli Dighi. It is a matter of wonder to know how and how many people worked to excavate this large pond on 180 acres of land. People consider the water of this large pond very holy, so they collect and carry water from this large pond. To fulfill the wish of the mind, people irrespective of caste, creed and religion bathe in the water of this pond. To the Hindu community, this dighi is known as Thakur Dighi (a large pond of spiritual guide). Rare species of crocodiles have been living for a few hundred years. ‘Dhala Pahar’ and ‘Kala Pahar’ deserve special mention. But recently these two crocodiles have died. At present there are some fresh water crocodiles that were brought from other place. Many of the visitors who come to the Mausoleum offer live hens as food to the crocodiles.
