Maijbhandar Sharif

In the middle of the nineteenth century based on the teachings of the holy Quran and the Hadith, a spiritual way was initiated for preaching by Gausul Azam Hazrat Syed Ahmed Ullah Maijbhandari.  According to his name this spiritual practice has gained wide knowledge in human society as ‘Maijebhandari way.’  Later on Sufi devotee Hazrat Mawlana Shah Golam Rahman Maijbhandari as his successor was born in Hijri year 1284, (1865 A. D.) at the village Maijbhandar under Fatikchhari Police Station, 40 kms on the north from Chittagong Town and took the office of a Khalifa (caliph). Every year on the occasion of the anniversary (birth 27 Ashin, and death 22 Chaitra) of Shah Golam Rahman, many votaries from home and abroad visit the shrine and pray for the salvation of the departed souls. The graves of some other devotees are located here.
