Jessore Stitch and Nakshi Kantha

Four hundred house wives of about ten villages including Nishchintapur and Kota of Sharsha upazila make Nakshi Kant (embroidered quilt). Their main office is in Navaran Bazar on the Jessore-Benapole road. The Nakshi Kanthas made by them have earned goodwill even abroad. They have a show room in Tokyo. There are so many styles in stitching kantas, namely Dalphor, Chainphor, Kamalphor, Dubdubi, Sujni, Clystitch etc. Apart from these, Jessore Stitch Sari, Saloar, Kamij, Shal, etc. are made there. Jessore’s stitch cloths are to women’s liking very much in this country. There is a heavy demand for Jessore stitch and Nakshi Kanthas even in India.
