Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman’s Birthplace

Hamidur Rahmn is one of those seven heros who among 3 million martyrs, were awarded the titles Birshrestha for their supreme sacrifice and gallantry in the great Liberation War of Bangladesh. He was born of a poor family in 1953 at Khordo Khalishpur village under Mohespur upazila of Jhenaidah district. Paying homage to this great hero the name of the martyr’s own village Khordo Khalishpur was changed into Hamid Nagar in 2008. In this village there is a school, in district headquarter there is a stadium and a college established in 1999 at Khalishpur bazar after him. In 2007, construction of a library and a museum was started in honour of this great freedom fighter. Tourists may like to visit this beautiful library, which is now open to all.
