Freedom Fighters’ Mass Grave at Kamanna Village

There are two mass graves of 27 freedom fighters at Kamanna village under Union Parishad-10 of Shailkupa upazila, which is 42 kilometres away from Jhineidah district headquarter. These freedom fighters were killed by the Pakistani army on 26 November 1971. It is learnt that on that day 30 freedom fighters were asleep in an abandoned house of a Hindu family. Upon receiving information from the collaborators, the well armed Pakistani army suddenly attacked those freedom fighters in the dark of night. In this attack, 27 were killed instantly while 3 others managed to escape. The next day the local people buried them in two mass graves adjacent to the Kamanna High School field.
