Gallamari Monument and Mass Killing Site

The Gallamari Monument and the Mass Killing Site are situated 2 kilometres away from the Sonadanga Bus Station of Khulna town. Gallamari is a memory-laden place of painful mass killing that occurred simultaneously durig the great Liberation War in 1971. Close to Khulna University on the bank of the Moyur River, about 15 thousand innocent people were killed by the Pakistani occupying armies and their collaborators Albadars-Razakars of this country in 1971. After Khulna town had been liberated, about 5 truck-loads of human skulls and human bones were discovered from Gallamari canal and its nearby places. A monument was built there for the first time in 1975.
