Litterateur Mir Mosharraf Hossain’s Homested

The homestead of Bishad Sindhu writer and one of the best novelists of Bengali literature is situated at Lahinipara in Kumarkhali upazila. There stand a primary school, and a small library. Novelist, playwright and essayist Mir Mosharraf Hossain was born here in 1847 AD. His father Mir Moazzem Hossain was a Zamindar. Mir Mosharraf was one of the main prose writers in the Bankim period and pioneer of the Bengali Muslim litterateurs in 19th century. His remarkable books: Basanta Kumari (1873), Zamindar Darpan (1873), Bishad Sindhu (1885-1891), Gazimiar Bostani (1899), Maulud Sharif (1903) etc. This well-renowned litterateur died in 1912. At present there is no existence of his homestead in Lahinipara. Mir Mosharraf Hossain memorial library and auditorium has been built with the government assistance in that place.  It may be mentioned that his gave is located at Padmadi village of Baliakandi upazila of adjacent Rajbari district.
