The most remarkable tourist spot within the district is Sitaram Raja’s Fort. It is a fort of medium size, built on the land of rectangular shape at Mohammadpur upazila Sadar 18 kilometres (11 miles) to the east from Magura town. The length of each arm of the fort was more than a one and a half kilometres. (one mile). Around the fort there were high walls made of clay and outside of the walls there was a wide and deep trench. The arch entrance was on the south-east corner. Inside and outside of the fort there are many small and large ponds. At present within the fort there are a palace, a rocking cradle, a treasure house, some temples, a two-storied rest house still survive in a dilapidated condition. It is guessed that the local feudal prince built all those in 18th century. He reigned over independently in 18th century during the period of Nawab Murshidkuli Khan. But towards the end of his life, he was defeated and killed by the Nawab army and after that downfall happened to his capital Mohammadpur.
