Patharia Hill

This Patharia Hill, which is about 40 kilometres in length is about 12 kilometres away from the township of Baralekha upazila of Moulvibazar. According to the geological idea, the age of the hill is more than 2 million years. One portion of the hill included in Baralekha is called Patharia, and the other portion is known by the name Madhabkundo or Madhabchhara. The Madhabkundo waterfall flows through the bosom of the Patharia hill. At one time this verdant hill was the sanctuary for the Royal Bengal Tigers. Though tigers do not exist here now, yet the presence of deer is noticeable. Beside these, different kinds of birds and animals, trees and plants of different species are found here.
