Haloi Song

Haloi is a popular regional song in Narail district. A group of 7 /8 persons move from house to house during the nights of the last seven days of the month of Poush (first half of January) and sing Haloi songs to raise or collect rice and paddy. Many people donate money also. Thus they raise rice and paddy for seven days and then cook shirni (prepared by boiling rice in milk with sugar) on the last day of the month of Poush and they distribute the sweet dish.
