Narail Zamindar House

The Zamindar Bari is situated in the heart of the town at Rupganj on the bank of the Chitra River. Narail has been named after the Zamindar family. On the bank of the river, there is a wide ghat (landing wide staircase) which is not seen in any other place of Bangladesh. A metal road suitable for vehicle-driving, leads from the ghat to the gate of the Zamindar Bari. The gate survives still today, and on both the sides there remain various establishments of the outer house. Though the palatial buildings inside the walls do not exist, yet there exist a large pond and two temples. One temple is made entirely of reddish sandstones and is one-roomed. The other temple is eight-part roof with ornamental work of terracotta.
