Taler Donga (Palmyra Canoe)

The craftsmen of Char Shalikha and Ram Siddhi villages of Narail Sadar upazila have still kept up the tradition of making boats of the trunks of Palmyra Canoe is a kind of  narrow boat used for ferrying two-three persons, catching fishes, reaping paddy, plucking lilies, collecting snails, and is used widely in the hatchery of fishes. Besides these, to irrigate water to the crop-fields the Palmyra canoe is used as a bailing bucket.  Moreover, the abundance of Palmyra in this region is one of the reasons to sustain this industry. The nearly extinct water-vessels will certainly attract the tourists.
